A coarse starting point in the Tokenomics Foundation's draft AI value data layer (November 2026): each workload is treated as its own task and outcome over a monthly window, before the organisation instruments individual requests.
It lets an organisation compare cost and value for its main workloads within a quarter, without waiting for every gateway and agent to emit task-level identifiers.
The term comes from the Tokenomics Foundation's draft AI value data layer proposal (Shawn Alpay, 5 November 2026, CC BY 4.0). The proposal is a draft, not an adopted standard.
Cohort mode matches the "workload per month" grain that this site's instrumentation blueprint recommends as the place to start. Go finer, to task or case level, only where a decision needs it: for example to measure scrap or the quality floor directly.
