Workload, Task and Outcome IDs

Three identifiers that the Tokenomics Foundation's draft AI value data layer (November 2026) proposes to stamp onto OpenTelemetry traces and metrics, alongside FOCUS billing keys. The workload ID names the AI use case, the task ID a unit of work such as a pull request or a claims investigation, and the outcome ID the delivered result the work contributed to.

Why it matters

Cost data knows about accounts and models; business systems know about cases and releases. Neither knows about the other. Shared identifiers are the join that lets cost per successful outcome be calculated from records rather than estimated.

The identifiers come from the Tokenomics Foundation's draft AI value data layer proposal (Shawn Alpay, 5 November 2026, CC BY 4.0). The draft names them in prose and does not yet give attribute names. Dollar costs are not put into telemetry, because the cost of a request is often not known while it runs; only the keys are added, and cost is joined later.

The workload ID is the same idea as the workload identifier in this site's instrumentation blueprint, which treats it as the join that most often breaks. The task and outcome IDs carry the join down to individual units of work and their results.
