Layer 4 of AI value management: whether AI effort is aligned to funded initiatives, product outcomes, and strategic portfolio commitments, with AI spend and effort mapped to the structures used to plan work.
Why it matters
It connects AI activity to what the organisation has chosen to fund. Without it, leaders cannot prioritise, sequence, remove duplication or decide whether an experiment should become delivery.
How it is measured
Starting measures in the KPI library include AI Initiative Ownership Rate, AI Business Case Coverage, AI Governance Span and the AI Run/Grow/Transform Ratio. Owners are usually strategic portfolio management, portfolio and delivery leads.
Delivery alignment is the fourth of the five layers of AI value management. The planning
structures it maps to vary: epics, capabilities, products, value streams, programme increment objectives or their equivalent.
