Buyer fit
Coverage of the OpenAI API does not cover Codex. Codex analytics show active users, credit and token use by surface and model, and code review activity, with an Analytics API for warehouse reporting. Billing depends on plan: some activity draws on ChatGPT workspace credits and some on API billing, so cost can land in two places.
Market outlook
Strategic product for OpenAI and fast-moving. Expect frequent changes to plans, credit rates and included usage.
What to check
- Workspace usage controls do not set a universal Codex limit or govern Platform API billing.
- Use the Analytics API rather than dashboard exports for recurring reporting; dashboard fields may change.
- Track cost per merged change, not per seat, as usage-based charges grow.
